



Statutory Inspection and
Testing of Lifting Equipment
As regulated by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, more specific the section Driven Machine Regulations 2015 18(5)(a), installations and working parts of lifting machines, hand powered lifting devices and all ancillary lifting equipment used with the machine or device must be examined and performance tested every 12 months.
According to subregulation (6), ropes, chains, hooks and other attaching devices, sleeves, brakes and safety devices forming part of a lifting machine or hand powered lifting device must be examined and tested every 6 months or under the circumstances stated in subsection (10)(e) every 3 months.
Registered Lifting Machine Inspectors (LMI) from a Registered Lifting Machine Entity (LME) do inspection and testing of Overhead Cranes, Mobile Cranes, Monorail Structures, Jib Cranes, Lift Trucks, Vehicle lifts, Cherry Pickers, Hydraulic Jacks, Chain Blocks, Lifting Tackle, Forklifts and issue certificates, audit reports and registers.

Statutory Inspection and
Testing of Pressure Equipment
According to the Pressure Equipment Regulations, 2009, 11(1)(c) every fire-tube steam generator to be subjected to an external inspection every 12 months and a witnessed hydraulic test and crack detection of critical welds every 36 months…

design pressure by an approved inspection authority for in-service inspection appointed by the user in writing at intervals not exceeding 36 months…
Pressure Equipment falling under the Mines and Mineral Health and Safety Act must undergo inspections and pressure tests every two years
Accredited competent persons (PV609) do the inspection and testing of pressure vessels including Air Receivers, Autoclaves, Oil Separators, Mobile Compressors, Atmospheric Cooking Pots issuing certificates, audit reports and registers, counter signed by an approved AIA.

Health and
Safety Files
Health and Safety Files are required by the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations as a legal record of the health and safety information that will be of use to both clients and end users.
A Health and Safety File forms an integral part of the Health and Safety management system and must contain all information needed to allow future construction work to be carried out safely and is a record of all information focusing on the management of health and safety on sites for both the contractors and sub-contractors.
